Dual-listed IsoEnergy said Tuesday it had begun key technical work at its fully permitted Tony M uranium mine in Utah, a move aimed at laying the groundwork for a potential restart that could establish the Canadian company as one of a small number of US uranium producers.

The programme, which includes ore sorting and evaporation studies, is intended to reduce production costs and accelerate timelines while preserving flexibility. IsoEnergy already holds the permits required to bring the mine back into production, along with a toll milling agreement at the nearby White Mesa mill, which is the only fully licensed and operating conventional uranium mill in the US.

“Momentum is accelerating across the US nuclear industry, yet a significant gap remains between domestic uranium supply and growing demand,” said CEO Philip Williams. “We believe IsoEnergy is uniquely positioned to help close this gap with a portfolio of past-producing uranium mines and a large-scale development project in the United States.”

Williams added that Tony M was the most advanced and derisked uranium asset in its US portfolio. "As we move forward, our focus is on optimising project economics through a series of technical studies. These efforts will inform a potential production decision, targeted for later this year, aligning IsoEnergy's near-, mid-, and long-term strategy with the urgent need for secure, domestic uranium supply.”

The 2025 work plan includes bulk testing of sensor-based ore sorting technology developed by Steinert Group and the use of high-pressure slurry ablation, a separation method developed by Disa Technologies. Both approaches are expected to concentrate mineralisation before material is trucked to the White Mesa mill, improving efficiency and reducing haulage and processing costs.

In addition, the company is working with RWI Enhanced Evaporation to test the use of Landshark evaporators to increase water evaporation rates at existing pond infrastructure, potentially shortening dewatering timelines and reducing the need for new pond construction.

Besides the Tony M mine, IsoEnergy’s uranium assets include the Daneros and Rim mines - all three of which are fully permitted. The company holds a suite of regulatory approvals, including plans of operation and environmental assessments from federal and State agencies.
